The CDM 2007 Regulations cover both new build and refurbishment/repair works, whether notifiable to the HSE or not. Already well known in the social housing sector Gates with offices at Plymouth, Barnstaple and Taunton announces the promotion of Lynn Brooks as Director of Gates Safety Management Ltd. Lynn has helped Gates to buck the current market trend with their workload doubling in the last 12 months. This expansion looks set to continue.
Lynn ensures that the Client is in full compliance with their requirements under the CDM 2007 Regulations and that health and safety is a paramount issue before and during construction work.
Quote by Kevin Binmore Partner of Gates Partnership:
"Gates Safety Management is a new and exciting development for the practice and Lynn brings a wealth of experience to the role. She will be focusing on construction health & safety management in which she is fully qualified to act on large and complicated projects. "
CDM Regulations is the common name for the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007. These require every construction project that lasts over 30 days or involves more that 500 person days to complete to be registered with the Health and Safety Executive and requires the appointment of a CDM Coordinator; this is the role that Gates Safety Management fulfills.
Currently the legal requirement to appoint a CDM coordinator is not understood by everybody, non-compliance involves criminal law and there are severe penalties in the event of a site accident. The moral is, if in doubt, check!! |
